Born and raised in the small town of Brewster, WA.  I had my first job at the age of 13, thinning apple trees.  At the time I thought it wasn’t fair, but it was to make sure I could get the shoes and school clothes I wanted in the fall.  Looking back now, I know it was to take pressure off my mom, who was struggling to raise 3 kids on her own.  It ended up being a huge blessing and was the foundation of building a relentless work ethic.

Integrity, follow through on your word, and treat others the way you would want to be treated were expected.

After earning my business degree from Eastern Washington University, I entered the insurance and benefits industry in 1994. Over the years, I’ve held regional leadership roles, but I’ve found my greatest fulfillment working directly with families and business owners—helping them plan, protect, and prosper.

In 2018, I partnered with the late Jim Starr to create Starr Investments & Benefits, where our focus remains on 3 pillars:

  • Retirement income planning for individuals and families

  • Customized benefit solutions for small businesses

  • Medicare guidance and support

My mission is simple: to make a difference. I strive to be the kind of advisor people want to come see—someone who listens, learns, and leads them toward their true financial path. We empower our clients to go into retirement with confidence. Protecting what they need in retirement, so they know when they can enjoy the things they want in retirement. It all comes down to what’s essential and what goes in the desired bucket?  It’s different for everyone.

If you’re a small business with 1–50 employees, chances are you haven’t been shown all your benefit options—and you and your staff may be working harder than you need to when it comes to the benefits administration. We can help make that easier.

Outside of work, I enjoy time with my family, being on the water fishing or boating, golfing, and perfecting a smoked brisket to share with family and friends.

I recently served on the board of Feed Spokane, a nonprofit that rescues on average over $1,000,000 lbs of food each year.  I continue to support them through volunteering and donations. My wife, Tracy, and I have been married for over 30 years, and we’re proud of our growing family.

If you’re looking for honest advice, clear solutions, and a team that truly cares—let’s connect and see how we can help.
